As part of its commitment to advancing healthcare innovation, King Abdulaziz University (KAU) hosted a scientific forum titled “The Physician and Artificial Intelligence: A Partnership Toward Smarter Healthcare” on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The event was organized by the Medical Services Center in collaboration with the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, and was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Amoudi, Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity.

Presented by Dr. Nouf bint Atiq Al-Ghanmi, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, the forum underscored the importance of utilizing modern technologies to support and develop healthcare services, highlighting the growing integration between digital solutions and clinical practice.

The forum focused on showcasing the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the efficiency of healthcare services at the university, demonstrating the role of smart technologies in supporting medical professionals and improving the patient experience. It also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between healthcare and technology sectors to foster innovation and promote institutional sustainability.

The event featured a practical case study on the clinical use of AI in ophthalmology, delivered by Mr. Haitham Barnawi from the Department of Optometry at the Medical Services Center.
